the time when it came to picking out the best photos for the website - as usual we had taken far too many photos, but what can you do when you see such amazing things!!!

Due to there being no Sunday bus service we thought we had arranged with the stand-in hostel man for a 4 wheel drive ride back to Mercedes. We thought we had arranged to be picked up at 4.30 a.m. which would have allowed us to catch the morning bus to Buenos Aires. We had decided that we wanted to go and see the Southern Right Whales on Peninsula Valdes which meant that we would have to cut short our time in both Buenos Aires and Uruguay, so we were eager to get going. We set the alarm clock for the ungodly hour of 4 a.m. and had an early night.

We woke to the sound of our beeping alarm clock and wished for a couple

of hours more in bed. After dragging ourselves out of bed we were encouraged to wake up by the sight of the rising sun and stood waiting and waiting for our driver. We stood and stood and stood! There was no sign of anybody, we knew by now that we would have been pushing it for our connecting bus in Mercedes. We were a bit cheesed off to say the least. The stand-in hostel man came round and said that he thought the driver was coming at 4.30 p.m. not a.m. we didn’t believe him for one minute! It seemed a little strange to us that he would bother coming round to the hostel at 4.45 a.m. Still he was a bit of a weirdo so you never know!

After catching an extra few hours sleep and having breakfast we headed off in search of where to buy bus tickets. We found the bus and went to the nearest shop. The lady then pointed us in the right direction and we found ourselves in a very shabby building
