slow machine and generally wandered and chilled around. It was a nice fairly sunny day so time seemed to drift by.

We also bumped into Alice and James again and heard their tales of woe for getting back to Rurrenabaque. Their jeep hadn’t turned up to collect them from the boat, so they all had to paid extra money to hire another one. Unfortunately their driver was hopeless and got the jeep stuck on more than one occasion, which meant that they all had to get out and push! Not only did they have to do this, but by this point it was gone 6 which meant it was going dark. Driving on a road in such a bad condition as that in the day is bad enough but to attempt it in the dark is just plain crazy. But no, their driver went on and got the jeep stuck next to a truck full of cows which was also embedded in the mud!!! They said that they were told to push the cow truck and if they could get that out,
then they would be-able to free their jeep! Now come on, how on earth are 7 people going to push a stuck truck full of cows out of deep mud? They had us in tears with laughter at their story. The bugs were biting them like mad, the cows stunk to high heaven and one of the girls with them refused to take off her flip flops and was getting hysterical about getting muddy feet and losing her flip flops! They finally managed to free their jeep and leave the cows and managed to get back to Rurrenabaque around 7 am! They said it was a story to tell their grandchildren and also said it was comedy at its finest! Wow, we realised just how lucky we’d been!

We went back to the office at 3 and were told that our plane wasn’t taking off because the Bolivian military had sent it somewhere else!!! Can you believe that? Our poor Inca Land Tours lady was so apologetic but there was nothing she could do and
