AMAZON BASIN - PAMPAS
all round trying to work out where each unique sound had come from. The sun was shining and we were smiling about how great life was treating us at that moment in time. The waterways were all different sizes, some being extremely narrow and clogged up with plants, others being wide and tree lined, almost like a typical English riverside scene. The time floated by timelessly as us in our long wooden boat and life was complete and utterly stress free, so all we needed to was sit back, relax and enjoy the ride.

After a couple of hours and us getting ever further into the pampas, we heard a really strange cry and Rene told us to start looking in the trees. The trees to our left were filled with tiny ****Cappachini**** monkeys. Due to the vastness of the waterways each boat takes a different route so as not to disturb each other, but it wasn’t long before each boat stopped to check out the
monkeys. They were so brightly coloured and ever so cheeky. It wasn’t long before one of them was trying to hitch a ride on a boat, closely followed by a few of its friends. They were fascinating to watch and the more you looked, the more you saw. There were loads of them, all vying for space on the trees closest to the boats, one even tried to steal someone’s hat!

We eventually dragged ourselves away from the joys of watching the monkeys as Rene told us to expect a lot more, so we continued along our peaceful way. The bird life was also amazing, we didn’t really know what many of them were but Rene did his best to describe each and every one. We finally arrived at our camp which was right on the waterfront and Rene told us to watch our step as they have a resident alligator!!! After a good check of the water we unloaded the boat and headed to our dorm.
