SAN FRANCISCO & AROUND
27TH JUNE - 14TH JULY
We arrived on time but another overnight flight had taken its toll on us in terms of feeling groggy and in need of some sleep, but we were cheered up by the fact we were meeting my Mum and Roland at the airport. We had made vague plans to meet either in a café or at arrivals. We had also agreed that we would go for breakfast and coffee and meet them around 8.30 a.m. as our flight got in very early and we didn’t get fed on the plane, so breakfast would be very welcome! After we finished our breakfast we headed down to arrivals as we thought Mum and Roland may drive past but we waited and waited and there was no sign of them. We kept going back up stairs to see if we could spot them. We had Dominic’s mobile number but didn’t want to phone it until a reasonable hour of the morning, we also phoned the hotel we thought they were staying in, but there was nobody staying under the name of either Riley or Marchel. Hmmm, we were getting confused and a little worried! Still wethought they may have got stuck in traffic or got lost as the road system around the airport looked somewhat hectic! After another journey upstairs I saw Roland coming out of the café - hurray we’d found each other! It only turns out that they had been waiting upstairs all the time while we were downstairs and they were getting equally as worried as we were! I went back down to get Rob and by the time I came back up stairs Mum was waiting for a big hug! It was really great to see them.
They had decided to park up and not bother with the drive through arrivals due to the lack of airport signs and general mayhem of the place. We then headed down to the car and after various goes in the lift trying to find the correct floor we eventually found the car. Dina, Dominic’s girlfriend had kindly lent us her car for our entire stay, so with Roland at the helm we headed off in the general direction
