both Rob and I had a main course - mistake!!! We were already fairly full from the free food at the hotel so it was pure greed us having something from the Chinese as well!

We then headed to Alameda Yacht club to brush shoulders with the yachting brigade and watch Dominic in his race. The yacht club people were extremely friendly and welcoming, we settled ourselves down to watch the end of the race. A man came out and was chatting away and explaining what was going on. None of us had any idea what was going on, and the man’s explanation didn’t really help us either but hey we were enjoying the surroundings and the beer was going down exceptionally well, so things could have been a lot worse! We were all under the impression that Dominic had won his race, but we were told by the friendly man that just cause they went over the finish line first didn’t mean they had won! Sailing appears to be

a very complicated sport with more rules than you could ever imagine! Anyway after another round of beer Dominic arrived and confirmed that they had won the race and that part of the series. We were all very pleased for him but were still really none the wiser about it all!

Dina, Dominic’s girlfriend then arrived and we were introduced along with Steve and Geoff (again) and Campbell who was a total character and a half! After a few more beers we moved onto another bar as Dominic and Co weren’t too fond of drinking in the yacht club! We headed to a Polynesian style bar and the night was becoming a great deal more rowdy. Campbell was entertaining us with his tales of boisterous nights out, whilst Dominic and Dina were cringing into their drinks as he was also declaring his love intensions towards a girl to my Mum, who wanted to take Campbell under her wing much to Roland’s horror!!!
