SAN FRANCISCO & AROUND

We then jumped on a tram and headed off. It was a great introduction to the city seeing it from the tram, and when it finally came to it’s terminal we were ready to get off and have a walk. We had headed uphill quite a long way and the views over the city were great. We found ourselves near to the Buena Vista Park and even though it was quite a steep walk the views were over the city and the general Bay area were excellent. Thankfully Mum’s hip was holding up so we carried on and walked down through Height Ashbury and into the Golden Gate Park - famous for the Summer of Love in the greatest year ever -1967. There were still a few hippy throwbacks but we made our way into the main area of the park which was great. We were all feeling a little tired by now as we had been walking for a good couple of hours, time was ticking by and we were starting to think we should head back towards the ferry.

We took a modern style tram back to the ferry terminal which seemed to take forever due to computer problems! Thankfully the ferry was less reliant on computers and we soon found ourselves drinking beer and watching the skyline slowly disappearing into the distance. Wow! San Francisco is definitely one cool city.

We arranged to go for dinner with Dominic and Dina at a New Zealand restaurant in Alameda. We had a great meal and some wicked deserts then headed back to our hotel (we’d checked into the same one as Mum and Roland by this point!) for drinks. As the hotel had messed us around the day before we’d had our room upgraded and had a fantastic room with a balcony overlooking the harbour. So we ended a brilliant day drinking beer and chatting away with Mum, Roland, Dominic and Dina.
