SAN FRANCISCO & AROUND

Dom dropped us off at the harbour and showed us what we needed to know about Nightingale! The yacht was only small but it was a real treat for us to be staying on a sailing yacht! How lucky were we! We had a great sleep and a fantastic lie in, something which we hadn’t experienced for quite some time!

We had a very chilled day and spent most of it in and around Nightingale, it was so lovely being on the water and around the harbour that we felt we didn’t need to go out and do much at all! Later on in the evening we got asked by a fellow boater, Giorgio if we would like to go round to his boat for a bottle of wine! Wow we were now really mixing with the yachting crowd!!! Giorgio was a lovely Brazilian guy who had lived and worked in California for many years, and had a wine cellar on his boat! We had a
couple of bottles of wine and
a great chat, before we said our goodbyes and headed back to Nightingale for another wonderful nights sleep!

The next day we picked up our car, and Dom had again kindly agreed to take us to Oakland airport. He had a really funky jeep was it was a definite improvement on us having to take the bus! We rejected the first car we were given due to its massive size! They really do think they are doing you a
favour by giving you over the top cars in America, but for us its all about economy and this Pontiac Grand Prix sure didn’t look like a particularly economical model! Phew the second one was a good old bog standard Ford Focus – you know where you are with one of these, nothing flash but good on petrol and fairly small in size!
