SAN FRANCISCO & AROUND
great walk, with some spectacular views so Rob and I treated everybody to an ice cream when we got back down the valley floor. Again the ice creams were of gigantic proportions but we just about managed to eat them all up before we headed back to the car and back to Groveland. That evening we hit the local pizza parlour for dinner then headed back to Joes for a few glasses of wine and a fairly early night.

The next morning we were going to leave Joes house as the rest of the rafting people would be coming back and Joe had to work later on in the day. We decided that we would like another night around Yosemite and Joe suggested a few different camping options. We found a great campsite just outside Yosemite on the road out to Hetch Hetchy. Hetch Hetchy is a reservoir that serves the San Francisco area and was a major engineering feat in its day. The campsite was a basic affair but at $16 for the 4
of us it wasn’t bad at all! The location was superb, set in a lovely dense forest with a small stream nearby. Rob and I had said we would cook later on so we arranged a convenient time with Joe. After a walk around the campsite we drove over to Evergreen, an area with lots of walks just a couple of miles away. We had a lovely walk around the lake and found a wallet which we handed in at the campsite just as the owner of it was walking past after having asked at the office if it had been found, so the warden called over to him and he was exceptionally grateful to us! Later on we headed back to the campsite and got started on the good old camping favourite veggie chilli! Joe came over and we had a lovely evening of food, wine and big camp fire. They are great the campsites here as most have fire rings and somewhat alarming bear lockers for all of your food storage!

The next morning we packed up
